Senior software engineer with ten years across PHP/Laravel, TypeScript, Python, mobile and cloud. I design and ship web-driven products, from first sketch to something running in production.

Quick to pick up a new idea, I work closely with other engineers to turn messy constraints into products people actually use, with a keen eye for UX. I own the path from discovery through release, and I care about the measurable result: faster APIs, less support load, revenue you can point at.

Currently at Street Group, building property technology and shipping with agentic programming (Claude, Conductor and internal tooling). Off the clock I ship my own products (AstroTool, KingFit, MoneyPilot and Spatium) and build with Raspberry Pi and IoT hardware.

Senior Software Engineer · Manchester

Product and mobile platform engineering. Laravel APIs consumed by Vue 3 and React Native, with Redis on the hot paths.

  • Design Laravel APIs with clear contracts, backwards compatibility and reliability across web and mobile clients.
  • Cut a critical request from 109 queries to 9 by removing an N+1 path.
  • Introduced OpenAPI documentation so other teams can integrate without guesswork.
  • Rebuilt legacy flows with PHP, Redis and automation; built account-replication tooling for Customer Success.
  • Ship with agentic programming as standard: Claude and Conductor on the delivery path, plus internal agentic tooling we build for the team.
Design Bundles Nov 2024 – 2025
Full Stack Software Engineer · Leeds

High-volume e-commerce and internal tools. PHP, Symfony, Vue.js, delivered at startup pace.

  • Brought legacy PHP up to 8 on a live Symfony and Vue.js catalogue, improving performance and making the platform maintainable again.
  • Rebuilt giveaway and coupon flows with proper abstractions so campaigns could be reused, helping grow Plus sign-ups at discounted prices.
  • Built a Python microservice that generates gang sheets with a 2D linear bin-packing algorithm, so material layout stopped being a manual bottleneck.
  • Covered the service with Pytest, kept it behind a clear API, and wrote down architecture decisions so greenfield work was not tribal knowledge.

Six-month contract on customer-facing web and mobile. Laravel, Vue.js and Flutter.

  • Within three months, brought in regular demos so stakeholders could see progress instead of waiting on a report.
  • Led two product initiatives that generated nearly £485k annual revenue.
  • Moved onto ParkMaven with another senior: Laravel 11 and Vue.js, shipping quickly in a high-impact area.
  • Picked up Flutter to contribute on mobile; helped land an £85k-a-year parking agreement.

Greenfield product, legacy systems and stronger UX practice on cloud and customer platforms.

  • Led new and legacy applications on an agile cloud team: Laravel, Nuxt, React and TypeScript.
  • Cut support demand from about 98% to below 40% with automation and targeted fixes.
  • Mentored engineers, ran reviews and simplified architectures so the next person could actually change the system.
  • Integrated VMware and AWS Elasticsearch, and shipped work against real security and deadline pressure.
UKFast Jul 2021 – 2022
Cyber Security Software Engineer · Manchester

Security products including Threat Vision: performance, reliability and compliance.

  • Built and supported a security platform that replaced outdated software and contributed £1m+ profit.
  • Worked across AWS, Elasticsearch and VMware-backed systems with cybersecurity constraints in the room.
  • Shipped Laravel, Nuxt, React and TypeScript so Threat Vision was a product people could use, not only a backend behind the security stack.

How I actually work

  • Look at the slow or expensive path first, then change that: query counts, packing time, support load.
  • Leave a contract and tests so the next person is not guessing. OpenAPI, Pytest, written architecture decisions.
  • Put working software in front of people early. At YourParkingSpace that meant regular demos within three months, not a status report.
